Monza Circuit\u00a0 “Autodromo Nazionale di Monza” in Italy, is universally known as the Temple of Speed home of the F1 Grand Prix.<\/h2>\n

 <\/p>\n

Monza Circuit<\/a> race track was built in 1922, third permanent circuit in the world after Brooklands and Indianapolis. The circuit’s biggest event is the F1 Italian Grand Prix<\/a>, hosted there since 1949 in the first weekend of September.<\/p>\n

There are other important race event during the year: in\u00a0April,<\/strong> the Italian GT Championship, TCR Italian Series, Formula Regional European Championship, in\u00a0May,<\/strong> classic cars championship, in July the FIA World Endurance Championship 6 Hours of Monza, European Le Mans Series 4 Hours of Monza, Le Mans Cup.<\/p>\n

In\u00a0September,<\/strong> FIA Formula 3 Championship, Porsche Supercup, International GT Open, Euroformula Open Championship, TCR Europe Series and in\u00a0October,<\/strong> Italian GT Championship, Italian F4 Championship,\u00a0ACCR Formula 4 Championship.<\/p>\n

In 2020 and 2021 Monza hosted the World Rally Championship\u00a0final round,\u00a0ACI Rally Monza.<\/p>\n

Tracks:<\/strong><\/p>\n

The site has three tracks \u2013 the 5.793\u00a0km (3.600\u00a0mi)\u00a0Grand Prix\u00a0track in use nowadays and other two not used, the 2.405\u00a0km (1.494\u00a0mi) Junior track \u00a0and a 4.250\u00a0km (2.641\u00a0mi) high speed oval track with steep bankings.<\/p>\n

Monza circuit is known for its high-speed, simplistic design and is currently the fastest track on the Formula One calendar. Formula 1 engines are at full throttle for nearly 80% of the lap and engine failures are common.<\/p>\n

The circuit is generally flat but has a gradual gradient from the second Lesmos to the Variante Ascari. Due to the low\u00a0aerodynamic\u00a0profile needed, with its resulting low\u00a0downforce,\u00a0the grip is very low;\u00a0understeer\u00a0is a more serious issue than at other circuits; however, the opposite effect,\u00a0oversteer, is also present in the second sector, requiring the use of a very distinctive\u00a0opposite lock\u00a0technique.<\/p>\n

Racing car set-up:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Formula One cars are set up with one of the smallest wing angles on the F1 calendar to ensure the lowest level of drag on the straights. There are only 6 corner complexes at Monza: the first two chicanes, the two\u00a0Lesmos<\/em>, the\u00a0Ascari<\/em>\u00a0complex and the\u00a0Parabolica<\/em>, a total of 11 corners.<\/p>\n

Direction of travel<\/b>\u00a0: clockwise<\/p>\n

Cornering:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Cars approach the first corner at 340\u00a0km\/h (210\u00a0mph) in eighth gear,\u00a0and brake at about 120\u00a0m (130\u00a0yd) before the first chicane\u2014the\u00a0Variante del Rettifilo<\/em><\/strong>\u2014entering at 86\u00a0km\/h (53\u00a0mph) in second gear and exiting at 74\u00a0km\/h (46\u00a0mph).<\/p>\n

Conservation of speed through the first chicane is made possible by driving the straightest line, as a small mistake here can result in a lot of time being lost through the\u00a0Curva Grande<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0down to the\u00a0Variante della Roggia<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0chicane in eighth gear, at 330\u00a0km\/h (210\u00a0mph).\u00a0This chicane is probably the best overtaking chance on the lap, as it is the only one with the “slow corner, long straight, slow corner”; one of the characteristics of modern circuits.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Curve di Lesmo<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0are two corners that are not as fast as they used to be but are still challenging ones. The first is blind, entered at 264\u00a0km\/h (164\u00a0mph) in sixth gear, while the second is a seventh gear entry at 260\u00a0km\/h (160\u00a0mph).<\/p>\n

The downhill straight down to\u00a0Variante Ascari<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0is very bumpy under the bridge.<\/p>\n

The final challenge is the\u00a0Curva Parabolica<\/em><\/strong>: approaching at 335\u00a0km\/h (208\u00a0mph) in eighth gear, cars exit in sixth gear at 285\u00a0km\/h (177\u00a0mph),\u00a0accelerating onto the main start\/finish straight.<\/p>\n

Top Speeds and g-force:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Top speeds throughout the engine eras: 372\u00a0km\/h (231\u00a0mph) during the mid-2000s\u00a0V10 engine\u00a0formula, 340\u00a0km\/h (210\u00a0mph) in\u00a02012\u00a0with the 2.4L\u00a0V8 engines and up to 360\u00a0km\/h (220\u00a0mph) since the 2014 1.6L turbocharged\u00a0hybrid\u00a0V6 engine.<\/p>\n

Maximum speed was achieved by Pablo Montoya at 372,6 km\/h at Monza test in 2005<\/p>\n

Maximum\u00a0g-force: 4.50G during deceleration.<\/p>\n

Fastest Lap:<\/strong><\/p>\n
